  • Professor Dr. Md. Zulfiqur Rahman Khan completed MBBS from Dhaka Medical College followed by FCPS (Surgery) from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons and FRCS from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK. He also earned honorary fellowship from College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka.
  • He has an extensive career in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, spanning over 25 years. He had been serving patients at Labaid Hospital for almost 24 years.
  • He has served as the Professor of Hepatobiliary Surgery at BSMMU, where he also held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He was founding Chairman of Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant department in BSMMU.
  • Professor Khan’s career is characterized by his commitment to advanced surgical techniques, research, & education. In his long service tenure, he has performed over 500 pancreatic, biliary and liver surgeries.
  • He is experienced in performing surgeries for various complex conditions, including gallbladder stones, bile duct tumors, liver tumors, liver cysts, pancreatic tumors, pancreatic stones, and stomach tumors.
  • His international experience includes serving as a Senior Registrar in Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplantation at the National University Hospital, Singapore, from 1999 to 2001, where he was a member of Liver transplant team. He also gained significant expertise in laparoscopic surgery during his time in the UK and Singapore and has performed over 5000 laparoscopic surgeries.
  • He has been deeply involved in educating both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He also acts as an examiner for MBBS, FCPS and MS examinations and guides thesis and dissertations for post-graduate students.
  • Professor Dr. Md. Zulfiqur Rahman Khan has made significant contributions to medical research, particularly in the fields of hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation. He has published a total of 18 research papers in renowned national and international medical journals. He is the author of the ‘Zulfiqur’s Manual of Hepatobiliary Surgery’.
